4x4 House by Tadao Ando (Video clip)
The family house is constructed on a beachfront, in Japan. Due to limited available land space 4x4 House has a vertical orientation;
it has four floors, each having a 4x4 meters plan. From the top floor (the kitchen) amazing panoramic view opens up overlooking the sea. Third floor is a study, second floor is a bedroom, and the ground floor has two entrances and a bathroom. House also has a cellar which serves as a storage area.
Tadao Ando was able to create a family house that is not overwhelmed, and space of which is not obscured by elements of construction; it is simple, elegant, and light. Yet, undressed concrete walls leave an impression of a strong monolithic structure.
