Solar plant tower, California, USA (Video clip)
Swiss architectural firm Rafaa have proposed two incredible designs for a multi-billion solar thermal power site in California's Mojave Desert.
Upon its completion, the solar farm will have an expected gross capacity of 392 megawatts of power to be generated over 3,600 acres of 173,500 heliostats, which are revolving solar receivers.
The Ivanpah site will produce enough energy to cater to over 140,000 Californian families. In conjunction with the heliostats, a three-plant solar electric generating complex that will rely a "power tower" which effectively acts as a foundation for the solar farm.
