Hailuoto church was built on 1972. It represents typical style of modern Finnish architecture.
Church is designed by architect Irma Aaltonen and professor Matti Aaltonen. In church hall the altar is unique: the whole wall is a big window to the typical Hailuoto forest view with old pine trees.
Near by is an old graveyard. You can find some part of the foundations of the former church which was built on 1620. Former church was the oldest wooden church in Finland. Unfortunately it was burned for an unknown reason on August 1968.
