Prague in the 21st century is a tasteful blend of modern architecture alongside the historical.



This fusion of the old and the new undoubtedly adds to the attractiveness of the metropolis and is gradually becoming an inseparable part of it. Till now Prague has managed to resist the trend for skyscrapers. In fact the magnificent view from Prague Castle is compromised only slightly by the high-rise offices of Pankrac to the southeast and by Zizkov Tower directly to the East. Where modern architecture, with its abundance of steel and glass is to be found, it is usually elegantly fitted in where an old building had once been. The facade of the old has been maintained and can still be admired from the outside, while inside modernity has been neatly and elegantly incorporated.
