We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic RIBA Part 2 or Part 3 Architect to assist on a range of projects and Workstages.

We specialise in residential projects, typically one-off houses or small scale developments up to about 30 units.

Projects are interesting and we have a friendly and relaxed work environment.

The applicant would be expected to have a strong technical understanding of how building regulation and construction packages are created, and a flair for design.

It would be expected that the successful candidate would be able to work easily alone with considerable responsibility, and as part of a team. Help and experience will be provided to candidates aiming for Part 3 qualification.

The ability to work immediately and proficiently in Autocad, Sketch Up and Photoshop is required.

Applicants need to be local to the office (ie within about 30miles) and have the use of a car.

Applicants must be licensed or have an accredited professional architectural degree with the goal of achieving a professional license in the near future. This position is based in Saginaw, Michigan with the opportunity to work on projects throughout the state.

Job Description

With limited supervision from Senior Architectural staff, assist in the development of the design work; lead in the production of technical drawings and specifications; coordinate the related work of the other disciplines; and assume in-house construction administration duties on projects of small to moderate size and complexity.

Essentials

- Ability to manage small to midsize projects.
- Establish the parameters of the design work (e.g., code, site restrictions, budget and schedule restraints); identify building systems options and related performance and cost criteria; and assist in the presentation of design documents.
- Establish the project work plan based on an approved scope of work. Lead the execution of the various tasks identified.
- Accurately produce construction documents.
- Proficiency at architectural graphic standards and construction drawing set organization and development.
- Schedule and oversee the work of the project team (the various engineering disciplines), and facilitate the timely exchange of information between all project team members; assume responsibility for the coordination of all disciplines, documents, and for insuring that quality control procedures are enforced.
- Perform in-house construction administration duties: respond to RFI’s, review and approve shop drawings, issue bulletins, etc.; assist in providing field-representation services.
- Proficient with Architectural Desktop CAD document creation.
- Knowledge of Revit project set-up and workset/model management.

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Master’s preferred.
- NCARB certificate required. Leed preferred.
- Registered architect or ability to become licensed.

Skills / Competencies

- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Revit, Photoshop and Sketchup is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong attention to detail.
