Position Summary:

HansonLA is seeking a talented senior interior designer to join our firm. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, demanding professional environment, is detail-oriented and highly organized, and is capable of fulfilling leadership roles on projects. Experience in both design and production is a plus.

Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the development of a project.
- Responsible for client contact and communicating goals and responsibilities to the project team.
- Takes initiative on strategic issues including design direction and providing quality management.
- Develops and coordinates detailed design concepts with ability to develop functional requirements and project-design criteria.
- Demonstrates advanced understanding and experience in application of planning, programming, and design principles and methods.

- Makes authoritative decisions, negotiates critical issues, with a high degree of judgment.
- Directs the production of schematic, design development, and construction documents.
- Maintains awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
- Understands and coordinates engineering systems relevant to projects.
- Reviews shop drawings, material samples, and CD’s for conformance with design.
- Performs construction administration duties (i.e. RFI’s, submittals, change orders, etc.).
- Executes applicable agency review analysis (accessibility, zoning, life-safety, etc.).
- Generates construction plans and details, delivering complete, accurate and coordinated project documentation.
- Assures execution of and assists with quality control activities for all architectural elements.
- Conducts and documents field observations to monitor progress of construction.
- Ensures tasks are completed according to HansonLA standards.

Requirements:

- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Bachelor of Architecture, Master’s in Architecture, or Bachelor of Interior Design.
- Minimum 10 years experience as an Interiors Project Designer.
- Ability to think and draw in 3d.
- Ability to confidently, clearly, and effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Strong competency in interior design specifications, calculations, and industry standards, and application of building codes and specifications.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite Programs.
- Strong ability to think critically about planning, design, materials, budgets, and schedules.
- Understanding of materials and their appropriate application and costs, construction methods, detailing, and MEP concepts.
- Experience directing or managing junior staff.
- Strong graphic and presentation skills.
- Licensed in the state of California is a plus.
- Leed certified is a plus.
