We have an immediate opening for an entry-level architect to assist Senior Designer specializing in stone design and material specifications. Position offers unique opportunity for exposure to highly innovative and customized materials specified on a wide-range of projects. Candidate should be a quick-learner with a proactive attitude and have excellent organizational skills. Strong Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCad skills and knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook required.

Job description:

- Create visual presentations for clients and project team.
- Manage material samples for project teams.
- Assist Sr. Designer with follow-up/track on action items.
- Liaise between architectural and interior departments as required.

Requirements:

- BArch or BA Degree.
- Proficiency in Photoshop/Illustrator/AutoCad a must.
- Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook knowledge.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills.

OPEN Architecture is an international team of architects and designers, with collaborators across different disciplines to practice urbanism, architecture, interior and the production of strategies in the context of new challenges of our time.

OPEN was founded by Li Hu and Huang Wenjing in New York City. It established the Beijing office in 2008. Some of the built or ongoing projects by OPEN include: Gehua Youth and Cultural Center, Garden School/Beijing No.4 High School Fangshan Campus, Stepped Courtyards, HEX-SYS, Tsinghua Ocean Center, Pingshan Performing Arts Center, Shanghai West Bund Oil Tank Art Park and Wuhan Sky City.

Founding Partners: Li Hu + Huang Wenjing

Before focusing on the practice at OPEN, Li Hu was a partner at Steven Holl Architects. He founded and led SHA’s Beijing office, and was the partner-in-charge for the firm’s many award winning projects in Asia. Li was the director for Columbia University GSAPP’s Studio-X Beijing from 2009 to 2014. Huang Wenjing is a registered architect of New York State and a member of AIA. Prior to OPEN, Huang was a senior designer and associate in New York based firm Pei Cobb Freed and Partners Architects (formerly I.M. Pei Architects).

Requirements:

- Professional degree in Architecture.
- 5-year or more solid working experiences in professional architectural offices, having gone through all phases of design work for medium or large-scale public projects.
- Good design sensitivity, sound technical knowledge, keen attention to details.
- Very proficient in Rhino, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite and other related software.
- Good work ethics and strong sense of responsibility.
- Good inter-personal skills and able to lead the design teams effectively and efficiently.
- Bilingual in English and Chinese will be highly preferred. Current residency inside China is preferred.
