Architects and Designers
21/08/2014Hub is a growing practice with a fast-paced environment and some very exciting projects to look forward to in the near future. Our work is mainly in the prime residential as well as the Education and Public buildings Sectors.
We are currently looking for a Qualified Architect with at least 5 years UK experience.
We are also looking for Part 2 and Part 1 Architects to assist in the design and delivery of projects.
Fluent written and spoken English are essential.
Architects:
We would like to appoint an Architect who is experienced in the production of tender and construction drawing packages and has an understanding of traditional construction methods and materials. It is essential that candidates are also proficient in Vectorworks and have a good knowledge of current UK building regulations and Code for Sustainable Homes.
We would like you to assist in the seamless running of residential projects to high professional standards. To act as job runner and to take responsibility for the viable execution of smaller projects at all stages.
Tasks for Projects (in association with a senior member of staff):
- Take overall responsibility for own project running on smaller projects.
- Ensure each project is set up with an appropriate brief and programme.
- Define service level and level of information to be produced.
- Agree appropriate staff resources for the project.
- Deliver feasibility stage design to a high standard.
- Competently take early stage design briefs to Full Planning Applications and signing-off of conditions.
- Create and maintain a project planner for each project.
- Work with other Hub architects to deliver robust working drawings.
- Liaise with client teams, professional advisors and contractors.
- Carry out regular site surveys and inspections.
- Liaise with client teams, professional advisors and contractors.
- Issue fee notes on time.
- Keep careful record of time sheets.
- Carry out site inspections /contract administration/ valuations as required.
- Manage and record Project design team meetings if Hub take the role of lead consultant.
- Weekly-Tasks.

Stage reached
Progress of the project
Staff resourcing
Fee issues
Client contact/liaison.
Architectural Designers:
Part 1 and Part 2 Applicants should have good drafting skills (ideally in Vector Works) and an understanding with some experience in the delivery of projects at all 8 RIBA work stages. You will have a good technical understanding and willingness to research robust construction methods with some experience in writing NBS specifications and assembling working drawing packages for tender. You will also have good experience of using 3D packages such as Microstation and/or Sketchup, Photoshop and a good knowledge of graphic and publishing software. You will demonstrate good design skills and collaborate with a team working to tight deadlines. You will be able to work effectively with people at all levels and from all backgrounds and have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
