Junior to Mid-Level Designer

Montalba Architects, Inc is an award-winning, design oriented architectural practice based in Santa Monica, CA handling retail, commercial, and custom residential projects. We are looking to fill (1) full-time salaried position for a Junior to Mid-Level Designer with a BArch or MArch and a minimum of 3-6 years of relevant work experience. The candidate should have a strong background in construction documents and production in a team setting.

Roles / Requirements of a Junior to Mid-Level Designer include:

- Type V construction & code comprehension.
- The ability to self motivate in a small creative office environment.
- The ability to manage an individual project.
- Be well organized, precise, and diligent.
- Must possess great verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
- AutoCAD and rendering experience is preferred.
- Mac OS X experience preferred.

Absolutely no phone calls. Candidates should include professional work samples in their portfolio.

Project Architects

Licensed architect or nonregistered graduate with 8 years experience minimum: the Project Architect is primarily responsible for the technical delivery of all architectural design documents. The Project Architect is responsible for coordinating with all disciplines to assure drawings are properly coordinated among disciplines. They are responsible to assure that the project complies with all applicable codes and requirements. The Project Architect will lead all discussions and concept development for design solutions relative to building massing, proportion and exterior material selection. Compliance and conformance with any facility standards is part of the role of the Project Architect. He will therefore be responsible to assure all selections meet stated objectives. In addition, the Project Architect will work with the design team to assure an integrated design.

Qualifications:

- Project Architect II - Licensed architect is a plus, but not required. 6-10 years of experience; Project Architect III - Licensed architect with 10+ years experience.
- Ability to focus on a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development.
- "Team first" mentality, good communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to solve problems both individually, as well as a part of a project team.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and design.
- Outstanding graphics presentation skills.
- Proficiency in the use of Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch Up, Revit is a must.
- Salary is high competitive and will be commensurate with responsibilities and role.
- Bonus based on performance and profitability.
- Must be willing to relocate to Houston, TX.
