Architect

20/06/2014
Founded by MacArthur Fellow Jeanne Gang in 1997, Studio Gang Architects is a collective of architects, designers, and thinkers whose work engages pressing contemporary issues and their impact on human experience. Honored with the 2013 National Design Award for Architecture from the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, the Studio acts as a laboratory, testing ideas on various scales—from cities and environments to material and physical properties. Cross-field research, collaboration, and iterative experimentation using both digital and analog technologies are integral to the Studio’s process. Each project is designed to resonate with its specific site and culture while addressing global themes such as reuse and sustainability. In addition to creating transformative architecture, the Studio is dedicated to employing the tools, methods, and visionary capability of design to catalyze positive change through public engagement and advocacy.

Studio Gang is currently seeking a licensed Architect Level III with a minimum of 6-10 years of high-quality design experience to join the firm’s New York office, recently established in response to a growing client base and new and ongoing projects in the city.

The Candidate’s responsibilities will include:

- Serving as a key point of contact for the client.
- Establishing and overseeing project scope, fee, schedule, and staffing.
- Leading client meetings and presentations.
- Leading project meetings with both the design team and consultants.
- Coordinating work with the architectural team and consultants.
- Organizing design reviews with the firm’s leadership.
- Overseeing project deliverables, approvals, and quality control processes.

Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. Interested applicants should send a cover letter, CV, and work sample or link to online portfolio to email.

Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of operational and management success on large-scale projects, as well as the capability to lead and carry out projects in New York from design through completion (with identifiable client references as support). Revit proficiency is required, and candidates with institutional and commercial project experience are preferred. Experience working with the NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) is favored.

Candidates must be professionally licensed in the US and a US citizen or permanent resident.
