Experienced Conservation Architect

John McAslan + Partners is a leading architectural practice based in London, with offices in Manchester, Edinburgh and Doha. Our extensive portfolio of international award-winning projects includes infrastructure, hospitality, commercial, residential, education, cultural, heritage, urban design, and landscape sectors. We have an enviable track record in the repair and adaptive reuse of historic buildings. Kings Cross Station and The Roundhouse are two of our recent successful projects and therefore have a rapidly expanding workload in both the UK and overseas.

We are now looking to appoint a Conservation Architect to work on a number of these exciting new projects.

To be successful, you will need to have a good overall knowledge of architectural history, types and styles, to be familiar with traditional building details and repair techniques and understand the statutory framework for assessing proposals for change within the historic environment.

You will need to have at least 5 years post qualification experience as well as hold an RIBA Conservation Accreditation, or working towards it. You should also have excellent written and spoken communication skills and the ability to represent the Practice in discussions with clients, local planning authorities and other professionals. Microstation and Adobe skills would also be advantageous.

Above all else, you must be passionate about historic buildings and the contribution which they can make to our future.

Senior Architect

Award winning international practice that work within mixed use, retail, commercial, residential, and the leisure sector are looking for experienced Senior & Project Architects to join their multi-disciplinary team on a permanent basis. Working on large commercial/mixed use/retail and leisure projects ideally using Revit and/or Microstation, you will work within interdisciplinary project teams with engineers, designers, urbanists and technicians to help deliver an array of challenging & interesting projects from initial concept through to delivery. You will need to be a confident user of Revit and/or Microstation with previous experience with commercial, mixed use and retail schemes as well as being up to speed with all building regulations. Proficiency with Revit and/or Microstation is preferred.

Requirements:

- Experience of working directly with the client, contractor and design team.
- Design quality.
- Experience of various forms of building contract (D&B, CM, Traditional).
- Job running experience.
- Planning & construction phase experience.
- Ideally with excellent REVIT or Microstation & AutoCAD skills.
- Working knowledge of Project programming and delivery tools such as NBS Specification.
- Working knowledge of Building Systems, Regulations and construction types.

Qualifications and Personal Qualities GM:

- RIBA or ARB registered Architect with experience of working within the United Kingdom.
- Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, be highly computer literate, self-motivated and a clear thinker, alongside a strong team player who can work in a multi-disciplinary team and able to work to tight deadlines.
