MKA is an award winning, small-sized architecture firm based in New York City. Our studio space promotes communication and knowledge sharing across a range of project types and scales. Our work focuses on cultural institutions and performing art spaces, though prior experience with these types of clients and building typologies is not a pre-requisite.

We are seeking a design-inspired, versatile Project Architect who is eager to design, work with consultants, meet with clients and see projects through construction. The selected candidate will have experience in new construction and renovation design, construction documents, construction administration, and demonstrable communication skills. Good organizational skills are essential. The selected candidate will have strong design skills, including the ability to develop concept designs, planning diagrams, and well- executed and coordinated construction documents. They will have the ability to communicate design ideas graphically and verbally.

Qualified candidates will have:

- Education: Bachelor or Masters of Architecture.
- Architectural license a plus.
- 5-8 years relevant professional experience; experience with cultural or performing arts projects is a plus, but not a pre-requisite.
- Strong design and technical skills. Ability to solve problems, develop creative design concepts, and translate them into working documents.
- Strong graphic presentation skills. Fluency with ACAD and familiarity with 3D software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Interest in follow-through with construction administration and consultant coordination.
- Focused, articulate, well-organized, excellent time management skills.
- Knowledge of Leed and NYC Building Codes and Zoning is a plus.
- Authorization to work in the US.
- Flexibility- must be a team player that can handles multiple assignments.

We are currently seeking a Junior Architect; the ideal candidate should have:

- 1-3 years of architectural design and construction experience.
- B. Arch required, M. Arch preferred.
- Excellent design and communications skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience with Construction Documents, with a strong emphasis on detailing of interior projects construction techniques a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino and V-ray for drafting, modeling and rendering. Experience in grasshopper is preferred.
