05/05/2015Haigh Architects is a small well-established architectural practice working throughout the Lake District and Cumbria.
The Practice has a reputation for high quality work on a wide range of both domestic and commercial projects – including conservation work, alterations, and extensions to country houses, barn conversions and historic churches, and new buildings in sensitive locations.
We have a good client base and a varied workload in projects ranging from conservation and repair of historic buildings, to the design of new-build and extensions in sensitive locations. The practice has an interest in sustainability and working with local, natural materials.
Are you an Architect with minimum three years post-Part III, who might like to join our friendly office in the heart of the Lake District? Applicants should possess sound creative skills, a good freehand ability and proficiency in CAD (we use Vectorworks).
Experience of running projects is essential, along with the ability to solve practical problems and challenging design issues. Those applying must be able to demonstrate their genuine interest in, and thorough understanding of, traditional buildings and their construction.

- Contribute to the creative and drawing process during conceptual design, schematic design and design development.
- Create and adapt computer modeled or hand-drawn designs for buildings and everyday objects.
- Know the building code and construction documentation processes in order to properly create designs.
- Work closely with local Architects and perform quality check of their drawings regularly.
- Coordinate construction projects with all others involve planning partner firms and internal design team members.
- Make sure all drawings submissions are in line with the project time schedule.
- Assist Directors and Project Managers in the design phases to generate designs.
- Assist team in developing and implementing design concepts for both interior and building projects.
- Mentor younger staff to develop their design skills.
- Team player and ability to work in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Require traveling within Germany to render your services and work in other locations.
Desired skills and experiences:
- Degree in Architecture from a local university or university accredited with the Board of Architects.
- Preferably registered with the Board of Architects in Germany.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience as a Project Architect.
- Office and administration building planning experience will be of strong advantage.
- Good in design, planning, project management and site experience.
- Design competency will be advantageous.
- Proficiency in the latest versions 2D AutoCAD, 3D SketchUp, 3D rendering, BIM (ArchiCAD17).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Entourage, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Good presentation, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent German and English (other languages will be of advantage).
