Powe Studio Architects is seeking qualified and passionate intermediate and project architects to join their energetic collaborative Charlottesville, VA team. These positions will focus on detailing new urban mixed-use projects as well as bringing new purpose to historic buildings through adaptive reuse, rehabilitation, and expansion.
Powe Studio Architects has the following opportunities in our Charlottesville, VA studio for mid-career architects:
Project Architects with 10+ years of experience detailing complex modern buildings such as mid-rise and high rise office, residential, hospitality and mixed-use urban facilities.
Intermediate Architects with 5 to 10 years of experience detailing complex modern buildings such as low, mid-rise and high rise office, residential and mixed-use urban facilities.
Intermediate Preservation and / or Interiors Architects with 5 to 10 years of experience detailing traditional historically significant structures and/or detailing residential and commercial interior spaces.
Ideal candidates to join our team would have the following qualifications:
- Professional architecture degree (5 year or Masters program).
- Project Architects: Licensed Architect in Virginia, preferably NCARB certified.
- Intermediate Architects 5+ years and Project Architects 10+ years of technical architectural experience producing carefully detailed construction documents.
- Passion for detailing complex facilities; experience detailing multifamily, office and/or mixed-use facilities, and / or historically significant building rehabilitations.
- Understanding that building detailing is crucial to design excellence.
- Skill in AutoCAD, Revit expertise or willingness to learn.
- Expertise in building codes and regulations.
- Leed accreditation a plus.

Reporting in to the studios Partner, responsibilities will include:
- To understand the design project.
- To prepare, and develop where required, drawings, models, images, material & mood boards and other documents relating to the design.
- To assist where required in the co-ordination of the internal design team.
- To take responsibility, where required by the project leader, for specific areas of the design and project development.
- To liaise, where appropriate, with members of the external design team and other associated organisations or companies.
- To attend and participate in client presentations with the Job Captain.
Ideally, candidates will have 5-10 years’ experience working on significant corporate projects and preferably experience working within office design. This is a significant hire for the team and a strong portfolio demonstrating your suitability for the role is essential.

This position comes with an immediate start date and salary is dependent on experience.
