OMA’s New York office is looking for a Project Architect with conceptual design talent and extensive high rise building experience for a mixed-use tower development. The project architect will work closely with the Partners and the Associate-in-Charge. Candidates should have experience in developing client relationships, leading and mentoring a team and completing extremely high quality work. The Project Architect will collaborate with consultants and local architects to produce a comprehensive design package through intensive coordination work.

Requirements:

- 8 years+ of proven experience in all phases of design process: conceptual, detail and design development, construction documents, construction administration, site supervision.
- Masters Degree in Architecture.
- Professional proficiency in AutoCAD and / or Revit Excellent Adobe Suite skills.
- Knowledge of international building codes.
- Highly developed skills in client communications, contract documentation, project scheduling, team leadership, building design, technical detailing, consultant coordination, construction administration.
- Extensive experience with innovative façade detailing.
- Track record of realized and / or published projects.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Fluency in Japanese preferred, though not required.
- Licensed Architect is preferred.
- Deep understanding of OMA’s work and the capability to execute its design intentions through the various stages to completion.

This position is to lead the restaurant group's in-house architecture team. Project tasks will include production of all architectural elements of the project, planning and execution during all phases of the planning, construction and operations process. Working with a dynamic project team, the right candidate will support a high volume of hospitality store roll-outs (new construction and remodels) in a vibrant, successful and fast-paced corporate environment. Although our presence is limited to New York City at the moment, we will soon be expanding to a national Brand and are looking for a confident and self-motivated candidate that is interested in taking on responsibilities and a leadership role for all projects. The ideal candidate will have strong architectural skills, with 5-7 years of working experience (preferably in the retail, hospitality or restaurant industry), including experience in the US (preferably NYC).

Overall objectives:

- Lead the in-house Architecture Team in producing Bid, Filing and Construction Documents.
- Leads Oversees and plans the production of all architectural aspects of construction projects, including:

- Code review.
- Permitting and inspection process.
- Construction drawings and submittals.
- Delivery of final drawings to all consultants and sub-contractors.
- Shop drawing review.
- Supervise and evaluate work of subordinate architects.
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Superior knowledge of architectural building systems and design details.
- Responsible for communicating with and coordinating effectively consultants (Engineer, Expediter…).
- Work on several projects simultaneously with strong multi task skills and execute production of projects under tight deadlines.
- Assist the Creative Director as needed to adapt and develop a design solution for each new location.

Key tasks:

- Coordinate with Construction Team to establish specific deliverables and timeframes, including construction drawings and Permits.
- Establishes key work priorities for development and production of construction documents within the defined timeline.
- Responsible for the survey of every new space.
- In collaboration with the Construction Project Manager: Verify of the layout by GC and is responsible for the store being build according to construction plans.
- Identify any conflict between construction plans and site condition.
- Submit and review for validation all site condition conflicts with Creative Director.
- Insure the translation and integrity of the Creative Director’s design in all phases of the project.
- Draw all floor plans to code and update drawings when instructed to by owners or Creative Director.

Education:

- Professional architectural degree from an accredited institution; 5-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Skills:

- Expert level in AutoCAD is a requirement, Revit is a plus.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications and experience with Adobe Photoshop are also required.
- Sound understanding, knowledge and passion for the industry.
- Strong visual awareness and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills, problem solving, communication.
- Self confident and motivated.
- "Hands on" and "Proactive" attitude to work; ability to keep focus while working long hours.
- Work effectively in a collaborative team environment to ensure all project workers are on the same schedule and working on the correct time.
