Project Architect

Landscape Architect / Designer
25/05/2015Verdant is looking to add a Landscape Architect / Designer to our talented and dynamic team of Artisans, Architects, Designers and Horticulturists. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of professional experience; outstanding verbal, written, and graphic communication skills; a positive attitude; and a passion for landscape architecture and design.
Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and the Adobe Creative Suite, as well as plant knowledge, and possess previous design or project management experience.
Project experiences will be diverse as we work at many different scales and locations, ranging from roof top terraces and back yards to more conceptual design work and art installations.

Primary responsibilities:
- Development of Design Concepts, Spatial Strategies and Planting Schemes in AutoCAD and 3D renderings.
- Research building requirements and guidelines, establish site restrictions and propose amendments as required.
- Daily coordination with clients, planning authorities, vendors, nurseries and consultants.
- Determine means of construction and thoughtful material selection.
- Set up budgets and establish projected overall project costs and timelines.
- Coordinate plant and planter procurement with the help of our horticulturist.
- Coordinate any project elements that are being fabricated by external contractors, metal workers or craftsman as required.
- Oversee installation and provide clarification to contractors answering to any changes in field conditions.
- Communicate with clients about progress and assure that project stays on schedule and on budget.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in landscape, architecture or a related field with a passion for Design.
- Field experience in Landscape Architecture / Design.
- Good plant knowledge.
- Knowledge of grading, horticulture, and planting design.
- Experience managing projects.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Familiarity with all facets of architectural survey.
- Good technical knowledge with a basic understanding of construction details.
- Excellent strategic planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Able to thrive in a team environment but also work autonomously without little supervision.
- Sense of humor and passion for what you do.
Technical skills: - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficiency in Rhino 3D, Sketchup 3D.
