Loci Architecture is a growing firm with a commitment to providing our clients exceptional service and design throughout the architectural process. We are seeking highly competent individuals with 7-10 years experience who can join our team that is currently managing over $100 million in construction. In a couple of months, we are scheduled to start the design phase of a $25 million housing project. Our current work also includes private residences, charter schools, university projects, and building restorations. You will join a socially-minded, nimble, collaborative team dedicated to executing projects with rigorous attention to design and detail, and will work on all phases of project development and execution.
We expect you to be a leader within our team and contribute to the development of the staff. You will be involved in all project phases, including the development of creative design solutions, translating them into accurate and thorough contract documents, and working closely with contractors to achieve a high quality built project. Applicants should be comfortable working in a small office environment and demonstrate the following skills:
- Ability to work on multiple projects, with construction budgets that range from the low-six figures to $40 million, mentor staff, manage a wide-range of clients, work closely with consultants and contractors, and ensure a project's success.
- Organized, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to take on a variety of tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, time management and the ability to multi-task.
- Develop and oversee project budgets.
- Present projects to prospective clients, community boards, LPC, etc.
- Strong Construction Administration skills.
- Construction Documentation (including design details).
- Fluency in CADD.
- Work closely with the Principal in developing office strategies and marketing opportunities.

Qualifications:
-Licensed in New York State.
- Seven to ten years overall experience in architectural offices since earning a professional degree.
- A Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture degree in the United States or equivalent degree earned in a foreign country.
Leed Green Associate or Leed AP is preferred.
- Experience with the New York City Building Code, Zoning Resolution, Energy Code, and DOB filing documents and procedures is preferred.
The following computer skills are required:
- CADD.
- Adobe Creative Suite.
- Sketchup.
- Microsoft Office.
- Experience in other CAD platforms, including BIM.
- Social Media Platforms.

This is a senior position, requiring at least 8+ years of experience working at an interior design, architecture or related design firm. Senior Designers develop and execute appropriate design solutions for projects under the direction of the Principals; they must have the ability to lead project design teams and delegate work in a timely and constructive manner. Senior Designers have a thorough understanding of the firm’s design philosophy; they provide major input in developing a design concept and can effectively convey this to both assigned team members and clients. Senior Designers must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety project types or multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development.
- Lead project design teams including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development and construction drawings.
- Develop space planning concepts and generate program documents.
- With Principals guides project vision and ensures detailing, finishes, furniture and materials all align with project vision.
- Work with consultants, furniture dealers, product reps and fabricators to meet overall project objectives.
- Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination.
- Works with technical architect and project team to ensure design intent is accurately interpreted in documents.
- Oversee project close-out efforts.
- Collaboration with building and permitting officials during permitting and construction phases of project, submits for permit as appropriate.
- Oversee construction administration, including the processing of submittals/substitution requests during construction.
- Knowledge of building codes, standards and the ability to resolve complex technical and design issues.
- Creates or implements project systems and an environment conducive to high quality design and professionalism.
- Ability to communicate design concepts and direction articulately and concisely to both the project team and the client.
- Ensure projects conform to contract and design specifications.
- Contributes to and reinforces the “team effort” method of producing design projects.
- Mentors and guides skill development of intermediate and junior staff.
- Pro-actively keeps Principals and Studio Managers informed of work status and seeks clarification where appropriate.
- Identifies issues, risks and conflicts and asks for assistance and/or delegates in a timely and constructive manner when required.
- Minimum Bachelor's in interior design, architecture, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience working at an interior design, architecture, or related design firm.
