The Urban Strategies Studio at Eskew+Dumez+Ripple provides resilient visioning, master planning, urban design, community engagement, facilitation, programming and pre-design services to civic, institutional, cultural and corporate clients.
We are currently looking to hire an Urban Designer to fill the following role in our Urban Strategies Studio:
Project Delivery & Support for Design and Planning:
- Considers urban planning and design in the larger urban and social context and has the ability to organize and synthesize multiple planning and urban design concepts.
- Has knowledge of and consistently implements the principles, practices, regulations, and procedures of resilient, sustainable urban design.
- Prepares streetscape, open space, campus and urban designs for a range of client types and from early concept design through detailing.
- Prepares illustrated and rendered urban and site plans, sections, diagrams, aerial views and street level views of planning and urban design concepts. Writes/illustrates/renders urban design guidelines.
- Demonstrates knowledge in zoning, land use and site development standards.
- Assists in preparing master plans, project definition reports, vision plans, community and neighborhood plans.
- Conducts research on best practices as well as foundational urban planning and design concepts, approaches and precedents.
- Interacts with Architecture studio to contribute to projects in accordance with the Urban Strategies resilient site and context design checklist.
Business & Professional Development
- Assists in development of responses to requests for proposals.
- Assists with client business development presentations, meetings and pitches.
- Assists in development of fee proposals and presentations for marketing pursuits.
- Assists the Director of Urban Strategies and the Director of Marketing in marketing efforts to identify, qualify and pursue project leads and the acquisition of new clients in the area of urban planning and design.
- Participates in industry events.
- Professional Degree in Architecture or Landscape Architecture with advanced degree in Urban Design, with 5-7 years of experience in the field.
- Communication skills (writing, presentations, public speaking, report production).
- Hand sketching in collaborative environments.
- Knowledge of resilience and sustainability principles, integrated design and LEED guidelines.
- Adobe Creative Suite – expert.
- GIS - expert.
- Rhino - expert.
- AutoCAD - experienced.
- Sketchup - expert.
- Rendering - expert.
Are you a skilled Senior Architect? Our client, a very well known global design and consulting practice are seeking an experienced Senior Architect who has previously led teams and worked on large scale complex projects in the luxury hotel & residential markets.
As the Senior Architect you should have demonstrable technical experience and solid experience leading an Architectural team on large scale projects at leading design firms. For the Senior Architect role you will ideally have 5 or more years experience in detailing and delivering high quality residential buildings and hotels as well as good organisational skills. Advanced knowledge of Revit is essential for this role as well as experience of working in BIM in practice on various scales, from conceptual massing to construction documents, and expertise with parametric families is a must.
